Class Descriptions Let's Dance - Preschoolers
(age 3 & 4) Wonderful first dance class for children. Fun & engaging creative dance for boys & girls age
3 & 4 in a playful, musical setting. Children must be 3 by September, 2011 and must be able to participate
by themselves. Dancers wear t-shirts, stretchy pants and sneakers
on feet.
Ballet, Jazz, Tap - Preschoolers (age 4 & 5) & Youth (Gr K & 1) Part creative dance, part early dance training for boys and girls.
Children must be age/grade by September, 2011. Dance disciplines rotate each month. Dancers
wear t-shirts, stretchy pants and sneakers on feet (we have some tap shoes to lend).
Tap Dance - Children (Grades 2-5), Teens, Adults Children grade level in September, 2011. Teens
are middle and high schoolers. Styles include rhythm tap, Broadway tap, clogging,
Irish step. Dancers wear comfortable, stretchy clothes and tap shoes
on feet. We have some tap shoes to lend.
Jazz Dance - Children (Grades 2 -5), Teens, Adults Children grade level in September, 2011. Teens
are middle and high schoolers. High energy American jazz dance, including classic
jazz, Broadway Jazz, Lyrical jazz. Dancers wear leotards/t-shirts, leggings or
stretchy jazz pants and jazz shoes on feet.
Hip Hop -
Children (Grades 2-5), Teens, Adults Children grade
level in September, 2011. Teens are middle and high schoolers. High energy urban style hip hop. Dancers wear work-out
clothes and clean sneakers on feet.
Contemporary -
Teens, Adults
Teens are middle and high schoolers.
Contempory
dance is a fusion of ballet, modern, lyrical and emotive dance.
Dancers wear ballet
or jazz attire, ballet or jazz shoes on feet. (all dancers wear shoes on our
wood dance floor)
Ballet - Children (Grades 2 -5), Teens, Adults Children grade level in September, 2011. Teens are middle and high schoolers. Classical ballet instruction focusing
on solid understanding of body placement and movement. Dancers
wear leotards, leggings or tights, ballet slippers on feet.
Ballet Pre-Pointe - Teens, Adults Teens are middle and high schoolers. Introductory class to ballet pointe work. Students must demonstrate
solid ballet technique and strength necessary for pre pointe and pointe work. Point shoes
allowed only with instructor permission. Students must also enroll in at least one of our
ballet classes. Dancers wear leotards, leggings or tights, ballet slippers on feet (pointe
shoes w/ permission).
Ballroom 4 Week Mini-Terms - Adult Couples4 week mini-terms for couples (partner required). Learn the fundamentals of Latin salsa and merengue, classic waltz and fox
trot, romantic slow dance, and jitterbug swing.
Four
week mini-terms enrolling throughout the year. Wear
comfortable clothes and shoes (no sandals or clogs, please).

Fun Dances Swing City Director,
Susan Filipiak, brings her Family Fun Dances to your school, place of worship or community organization. Enjoy a
family sock-hop or country barn dance. Please call or write for information.
Ballroom & Swing Evenings Swing City Director, Susan Filipiak, brings Ballroom and Swing instruction to your
community organization or place of worship. Adult couples learn the joys of social dancing. Please call or write for
information.
School Visits Swing City Director, Susan Filipiak, brings dance into elementary school curriculum with visits, workshops and residencies.
